PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS
Recreational Program
Our recreational program offers classes for dancers who wish to dance for fun and exercise. They can choose one style, one class a week or as many styles and classes per week as they wish. Recreational classes may vary from 30 minutes per week to 1 hour per week per style. Some dancers choose just one class a week, we also have many that take multiple classes and styles. This program is perfect if your dancer wants to learn new skills, have fun with other dancers their age, build confidence and have social interaction.
Intro to Comp Program
This program is designed for dancers and families who have participated in a recreational program previously and the dancer is showing a strong interest and passion in dance. It is a stepping stone from recreational into competitive without too much commitment. It allows dancers to learn how the competitive company runs and how competitions work without the major commitment. We offer a fun, supportive environment for dancers to grow and learn all while competing in the sport and art of dance.
Program Outline:
-There is no official audition for this program, but we will assess and place dancers into a group appropriate to their level and age.
-One day a week (Thursday or Friday depending on age group and assessment)
-1.5-2 hours per week
-Dancers will train in various styles within their training time.
-Dancers will compete with only 1 dance.
-1-2 local competitions in spring.
-1 costume only
-1competition entry fee
-Recreational Classes are encouraged to be taken outside of their competitive training. There will be a 10% discount for any additional classes taken outside of this program for each dancer.
Competitive Company
Our competitive company is geared for dancers that wish to compete and study all styles of dance but do not wish to be at an elite level of training. This company trains in all styles of dance, competes in 3-6 dances at 4 competitions per season. Competitive dancers train 2-3 days per week with no more than 6 hours per week. There is an audition process necessary for acceptance into this program.
Elite Competitive Company
Our Elite competitive company is for dancers that are serious about dance and wish to study all disciplines of dance at an elite level. These dancers train 3-5 days per week with hours ranging from 9-15 hours per week. They attend 4 competitions per season and perform anywhere from 4-15 dances at competitions. There is an audition process necessary for acceptance into this program.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Bitty Dancers (2-3 yrs)
This class encourages free expression, while teaching basic elements of dance, including rhythm, movement quality, space, body awareness and shape. The child’s imagination and self-esteem are encouraged and strengthened through dance. This class encourages the dancers to work together as a group and socialize with one another.

Bitty Tumblers(2-4 yrs)
This class teaches the basics of gymnastics acro movement. Through stretching and basic gymnastics exercises dancers will learn how to incorporate dance and acro together.

Pre Dance (3-5 yrs)
Pre Dance is the perfect introduction to a full length class for young dancers. It is a combination of ballet and tap. This class is designed to keep the young dancer’s interest and focus on the task at hand and introduces them to new movement and steps. At this level dancers also start learning basic terminology and how to put steps together into a dance. It also encourages the dancer to participate with other dancers and work together.

Mini Princess Ballet (4-7yrs)
This class teaches the dancer how to move gracefully from one step to another with flow and continuity and rhythm of the music. It introduces ballet class structure and terminology through ballet music and games.

Ballet
Beauty, flow and elegance are inherent in the elements of ballet. Ballet is the classical dance form that can be mastered by itself or used as a technical base or supplement to other dance forms. Classes focus on overall body alignment and awareness with emphasis on proper usage of feet and legs and execution of turnout, Carriage and usage of upper torso and arms are also stressed. Tradition barre work, centre work and combinations are included in all classes.

Jazz
An exciting and ever evolving dance form full of rhythm, syncopation, passion and life. Classes explore body isolations of the head, shoulders, ribcage, feet and arms and encourage individual expression and the development of personal style. Jazz can be powerful and percussive or expressive and lyrical. Jazz dance is taught with the music of today together with the classical jazz of yesterday.

Tap
Tap focuses on rhythms and intricate footwork, creating a percussion instrument out of the dancer’s feet.

Hip Hop
A high-energy class that uses the latest sounds in rap, R&B and pop music together with movements influenced by some of today’s hottest video choreographers. Hip hop encompasses movement that has elements of popping, locking, and breaking as well as freestyle movement to give students the opportunity to develop their own sense of style. Hip hop is urban and diverse, forever changing.

Lyrical
Lyrical dance is a contemporary dance form that has it roots in ballet. It emphasizes the use of the floor for centering and grounding oneself in movement. This class focuses on the breath (inhale/exhale), which brings quality to one’s movement. Concepts of overcurve /undercurve, contraction/release, musicality and rhythm are explored.

Acro
Acro dance is a style of dance that combines classical dance technique with gymnastics elements. It is defined by its athletic character, its unique choreography, which seamlessly blends dance and acrobatics, and its use of acrobatics in dance context.
